A: The Friday before the tax sale day.
Q: Why is my bill so high?
A: Please see the assessor’s office.
Q: If my property is sold at tax sale, can I get it back?
A: Yes, if you pay the total amount due in one year after the sale.
Q: Can I pay my current taxes now?
A: All outstanding tax years must be paid before accepting payment for the current year.
Q: Can I make partial payments?
A: No, we are not allowed to accept partial payments.
Q: If I pay the taxes, will I now own the property?
Q: What form of payment do you accept?
A: Cash, cashier’s checks, business checks, money orders & personal checks made payable to Jasper County Tax Collector. These payments are accepted most of the year; however, from May 1 through tax sale, only cash, certified checks, or money orders are accepted.
Q: Can I purchase property that is delinquent in taxes?
A: Property can be purchased at the delinquent tax sale held once a year by being the successful bidder.
Q: My mother is over 65, does she have to continue paying taxes?
A: Please see the auditor’s office regarding homestead exemption.
Q: Do I have to pay the current taxes when I redeem my property?
A: If you redeem before March 17, only the defaulting year/s plus interest is required to redeem.
