Jasper County Economic Development
If you have any questions regarding economic development for the County (i.e., available sites/buildings, incentives, etc), please contact Andrew Fulghum at 843-717-3691 .
With its eyes on the future and by means of carefully managed growth and a recognized cooperative spirit among Jasper County’s officials, its municipalities, civic organizations and numerous state agencies and the public sector, the over-all mission of Jasper County Economic Development is to advance excellence for the general welfare of Jasper County’s people, to promote and encourage industrial development, commercial enterprise, private business, tourism and the production, marketing and provision of a market for the sale of agricultural products. This process assures that consideration is given to the county’s rich quality of life by discovery, conservation and advertisement of its natural and physical resources. By such conscious, pro-active endeavors, Economic Development further assists in ensuring stabilization in employment so as to maximize increased job opportunities, and it strives by networking to devise ways and means to raise the living standards for Jasper County citizens.
Jasper County Economic Development is in the vanguard of eastern seaboard industrial
development largely because of its notable location between seaport, interstate highway and
and aviation and its close proximity to Charleston, Hilton Head Island and Savannah. It is responsible
for attracting and nurturing the corporate life of its business and industrial park, Cypress Ridge,
located on Highway 278, northwest of Ridgeland.

Our new deepwater port
A new deep water port is to be located in Jasper County. The Governors of Georgia and South Carolina held a joint press conference to announce their plan to create a bi-state ports authority to construct and operate this new port. The port is to be located approximately eight miles from the sea buoy that marks
the entrance to the Savannah River’s shipping channel. The terminal’s location would enable the channel to be readily dredged up to 50 feet deep, opening the way for the region to serve new container traffic that cannot be accommodated in either the port of Charleston or Savannah. The terminal would be large enough to serve between 550,000 to1.1 million TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent container Units) in its first decade of operation.
Jasper County is one of the fast growing counties in the entire United States.
Now is a great time for you to join this exciting and growing business environment.
